Another update....

Yesterday, I wrestled with Jasc's PSP9 to create a transparent GIF for a website. I finally figured it out after about 50 minutes of trying.

A quick update!

Today I worked on Jasc Software's Paint Shop Pro and edited a photo's location and objects (removing a trash bin). Easy but fun! I was able to upload both of the pictures (the unedited picture and the edited one) below.

Sodaplay

A website in which you manipulate stick objects (ie-spiders, amoebas) using your mouse. Its pointless in a fun way.

Blinx.tv

Blinx.tv is an online multimedia search engine that searches the web for video and podcasts not only for viewing on your computer, but also for your iPod or PSP. Useful if you missed the news and wanted to see it later.

iTools

A search engine that enables you to search Google, Google Video, Web Directory Dictionary, Discussion Groups, Canadian and US white pages, and Yahoo! email addresses, and also gives you access to Language and Research Tools. Useful for any student or teacher because everything for studying is there.

Dropload

Dropload is a website where you can upload files to a server, and enable someone else with an Internet connection and a Dropload account to download the file. Its a great site and useful for anyone who has family or friends that live abroad and need to get a file to a person that uses more than one computer.

Visipix

Visipix is a site that contains thousands of examples of fine art, photography, and clip art. It also has a site for pictures pulled out of magazines and newspapers. A great idea for students and intellectuals alike, it also sports a search engine for internal site use, enabling you to search its 400,000+ pictures easily

Have to dig deeper for these

• I want to travel from Tsawassen to downtown Victoria and arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. What is the latest ferry I can take and what is the number of the bus I would take from Swartz Bay to Victoria ? To get to Victoria before 1:00pm, take the 11:30 am sailing to Swartz Bay, and then take the Route 70 s bus.

• I got on at Turnham Green and wanted to go to Osterly but I ended up at Ealing Broadway by mistake. Where am I and what am I travelling on ? You are in London, travelling on the London Underground.

• I am sitting at the Cafe du Monde in this famous city recently flooded by Katrina ? What city am I in, what is the speciality of the cafe and what would I do with a mufaletta ? You are in New Orleans, Lousiana. The world-renowned specialties of the Café du Monde are café du lait and beignet. A mufaletta is a sandwich, so you would eat it.

Got to really think about the last one

• I left the Hoog Catherijne, strolled down the Oudegracht and had coffee and poffertjes for lunch. What is the main language of the people who live here ? Dutch

• Close to the San Xavier del Bac mission there is a large US airforce base. How many B-52s are stored there ? Approximatley 230.

Human Clock

A pointless, but artistic website where people from around the world submit pictures of objects (not necessarily clocks) displaying the current time.

Blurb

A website where you can download software to create and publish a completely unique book, which, when complete will be shipped to you, pictures and text galore. A great idea!

Snap

A very useful and thorough search engine that displays pictures of the sites you searched for, as well as text.

Pixsy

A cluttered news site that groups information from various news sites around the world. It also sports a search similar to snap.com.

Meebo

A website that enables you to use four different internet messaging accounts (AIM/ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, Jabber/Google Talk, and the ubiquitous MSN) simultaneously. Great for people (like me) who have two or more of those IM accounts.

Digg

Similar to Pixsy, but better. Submitted by humans, and organised accordingly, this site is hardly as cluttered as Pixsy, but sometimes doesn't have as many news stories. Nonetheless, it is more streamlined than Pixsy.

You Tube

A website in which users submit homemade videos. There are other websites that do the same thing (i.e.-Google Videos, iTunes), but let you purchase DVD-quality legal videos as well as view homemade videos.

Infogrid

A site that contains nearly every link in the internet (over 5 billion pages), including email portals, news, and shopping. Great for people who need everything within a few clicks.

Ixquick

A metasearch engine that lets you search not only the web, but international phone books, lowest prices, and pictures. I like it because of the phone search.

Mamma

Yet another metasearch engine, but this one only brings up relevant pages (unlike Google), but I still prefer snap.com or dogpile.com to this site.

Search engines that I have never used
